In the weekend leading up to International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Dutch theatre initiative Theater Na de Dam presents Theatre of Remembrance. Directors and youngsters from European capitals dive into the history of their own city during the Second World War. Important part of this research into their past are meetings with people who survived the war.  These conversations, full of memories and stories, are the basis of performances throughout Europe. These projects are the international version of youngster projects in the Netherlands that perform throughout the country on the National Commemoration on the 4th of May.

On the afternoon of the 26th of January, after the Dutch National Holocaust Remembrance at the Auschwitz memorial, stories and images of the performances in Brussels, Budapest, Prague, Berlin and Copenhagen will be presented at the CC Amstel in Amsterdam. Also a part of the performance that was made in Amsterdam by youngsters for the 4th of May 2019 will be showed. The youngsters asked themselves: How do we preserve our history? Are stories and memories still visible in our streets?

International Holocaust Remembrance Day takes place every year on the 27th of January. On this day, the day Auschwitz was liberated, we commemorate the tragedy of the Holocaust.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day vindt elk jaar plaats op 27 januari.
